Testing a prediction model for the H-mode density pedestal against JET-ILW pedestals

چکیده
Abstract The neutral ionisation model proposed by Groebner et al (2002 Phys. Plasmas 9 2134) to determine the plasma density profile in H-mode pedestal, is extended include charge exchange processes pedestal stimulated ideas of Mahdavi (2003 10 3984). then tested against JET data, both a ‘standalone’ version using experimental temperature profiles and also incorporating it Europed EPED. able predict over wide range conditions with good accuracy. It experimentally observed isotope effect on that eludes simpler ionization models.

متن کاملDensity profile behavior in JET H-mode plasmas
The degree of peaking of the density profile has profound implications for reactor operation. As an independent complement to previous studies, density peaking in the JET tokamak was investigated on the most recent dataset, comprising virtually all experiments performed in 2006 and 2007. Unlike previous studies, this work focuses on low collisionality data as most representative of reactor cond...
متن کاملGlobal gyrokinetic simulations of the H-mode tokamak edge pedestal
Global gyrokinetic simulations of DIII-D H-mode edge pedestal show two types of instabilities may exist approaching the onset of edge localized modes: an intermediate-n, high frequency mode which we identify as the “kinetic peeling ballooning mode (KPBM),” and a high-n, low frequency mode. Our previous study [W. Wan et al., Phys. Rev. Lett. 109, 185004 (2012)] has shown that when the safety fac...
